Such a strange rain today.
Hesitant yet eager
Like it had mistaken
Falling for flying.
It rapped on my windows;
Urgent, full, seeking.
As if desperately
Trying to escape itself.
Such a strange rain;
Restricted by geography
And the very cloud
That required its release.
Unsure of its strength
Yet intent on flying, the rain
Tested itself against a sun
That demanded to shine.
Such an odd rain today…
Odd Rain, listening to it beat on my bedroom roof now as I’m reading at 1:30 in the morning. Odd Rain, raps hard, takes a breather then pounds again.

Odd rain, not so odd in Chicago these days, always reminds me of the beautiful long poem, Meghadutam (The Cloud Messanger) by Kalidasa.
